Outlook outside the Soliscom network

To use Outlook outside the Soliscom domain, e.g. from home or on a laptop, you will need to change some settings for Outlook. The manual below assumes you are using Outlook 2007. Settings for Outlook 2010 are not substantially different.
Web mail is a good alternative for accessing Solis-mail when you are outside the Soliscom domain.
We assume you already have Outlook configured to access the Microsoft Exchange environment. If this is not the case, you will need to make a mail profile. This is virtuallt identical to changing an existing profile.
Open mail settings:
Windows XP: | Start → Settings → Control Panel → Mail |
Windows 7: | Start → Control Panel → User Accounts → Mail |
- Click E-mail Accounts...
- Select the Exchange profile and click Change...
- If you do not yet have an Exchange profile, you must make one. Choose New... instead:
- choose Microsoft Exchange;
- select manual setting for server;
- for server and user name use the settings below.
- If you do not yet have an Exchange profile, you must make one. Choose New... instead:
- Select More Settings...
- Select the Connection tab.
- Under Outlook Anywhere check the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP option;
click Exchange Proxy Settings... - In the next screen, copy the settings below:
Take note! It is important to choose Basic Authentication from the Proxy authentication settings. Other settings do not (yet) work for Solis-mail. - Close this part of the configurationm by clicking OK twice; this will return you to the Microsoft Exchange Settings screen. For Microsoft Exchange server enter
solismail.uu.nl
, and for User Name enter your Solis-id.
Make sure the Use Cached Exchange Mode option is not checked. - Finish the configuration.
