General questions

What is my solis-ID? For students, this is your student number. Employees will be notified of their solis-ID before they start working.

How can I connect to the Eduroam wireless network? Select “Eduroam”, then enter your SolisID@soliscom.uu.nl and your password. For more information you can visit this page.

I cannot log in to Osiris/Blackboard/Eduroam anymore. Did you change your password recently? If you forgot your password you can reset it through this page.

I lost my password, how can I reset it?

• In case you want to reset your solis-id password go to this page.
• In case you want to reset your gmail password go to this page.
• If you can't use the reset tool for any reason you could go to the UU for U servicedesk located between Casa Confetti and the Bestuursgebouw. They can reset your password there. Be sure to bring a valid ID.
  
  

I lost my USB, did you find it? We don’t have a lost and found at the Science Servicedesk anymore. If we find something, we keep it there during the day and try to contact the owner. At the end of the day, we bring all items to the porter.

Printing

Where is the printer located? BBG: Left at the entrance of the study area (room 2.46). DDW: At the first floor of the study area.

How much does printing costs? A4 black costs 3 cents per page. A4 colour costs 6,5 cents per page. If you print double sided, you save 0,5 cents per page.

How do I connect my RFID card to the printer? First you manually log in to the printer. You than select Docu PRO. On the right top of the screen you see a settings icon. After clicking on this icon you see the option “Register card”. Please hold your card in front of the card reader for a few seconds. Your card is now connected. I don’t have an RFID card. Are you sure? The following cards have an RFID chip: public transport (OV) chip card, coffee card, Salto tag and P+R de Uithof card. If you don’t have any of these, you can ask for a printing card at the Science Servicedesk.

How do I put credit on my public transport card? You actually don’t put credit on the card. The credit is connected to your solis account. Your public transport card only helps you with logging on to the printers. You can charge your solis account through [www.uu.nl/printtegoed this page] using iDeal or PayPal. If you are in the study area and you want to use iDeal for Rabobank or ABN Amro, you can borrow a card reader at the Science Servicedesk.

I cannot charge my printing credit. Are you working as a student assistant? In that case the department you work for pays for your printing. This means you print for free. Please contact your supervisor about possible payment.

How do I print from a university computer? Just select “black on its-w-s376” and pick up your document at any printer.

How do I print from my own laptop?

Is it possible to print in colour at this location? Yes, make sure to choose “colour on its-w-s376”.

Where can I scan? At any multifunctional printer. Click on “E-mail” to scan your document. For a visual instruction watch this video.

Can I book a study room in the BBG study area? No, you can use them without asking. If you want to be sure there is a room available for your group, make sure you come early.

Can I hang my poster in the BBG study area? Yes, if there is enough room on the bulletin board. You may remove posters that are outdated. We will also remove outdated posters when we see them.

What are the other places where I can study?

• BBG first floor, in the computer rooms.
• Minnaert building, in the Sterrenzaal.
• The university library has multiple study booths and large study areas.
