Printer installation on Windows
This page describes the installation of a printer on a Windows system. Please note that there is a difference in installation procedures when you are not connected to the Soliscom domain (i.e. you have not logged in with your Solis-id).
Before you start
For installing a printer, you will need its UU serial number. You can find this on the label attached to each printer. If this label is missing, please contact the ITS Selfservicedesk.
PC on the Soliscom domain

During the installation process, you will need to enter the correct print server. The server depends on printer make. Below you will find the correct server for each printer make:

You will also need the correct printer drivers. If these are not available on your system, you will need to download them from the printer manufacturer web site.
- Open a Windows Browser (My Computer).
- In the address field, enter the print server, depending on the printer make:
the general format is\\<printserver>
e.g.\\ictsc-w-s033.soliscom.uu.nl - Hit Enter to open the print server.
- When asked, enter your Solis-id and password; for your Solis-id, use the format
soliscom\solisd - You will get a list of available Science printers.
Double-click the preferred printer to install it on your system.
