VPN gets extra security layer: 2FA
The coming months, many UU services will be made safer by adding an extra security level. Two Factor Authentication (2FA) will be introduced on many levels, starting with VPN on 30 January 2020. (For some applications, such as Osiris Docent, 2FA has already been activated a while ago.)
2FA means that you combine something that you know (your login credentials) with something that you have (a time dependent code or a physical device). 2FA makes it much harder for someone else to abuse your credentials, and thus to use your account or data.
You can choose from several 2FA methods available to UU personel: use the NetIQ app or an external app such as Google Authenticator to generate a code, receive a code by SMS, or use the Yubikey USB device.
- Learn more about 2FA on the UU intranet page.
- Make sure you have activated your preferred 2FA method through the UU Solis ID Portal.
